CALL FOR SINGERS! Join Interfaith singers of Prescott in a performance of Songs of the Earth Music by Mary Lou Prince Lyrics and Storytelling by Patty Willis Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day Performance scheduled for Sunday April 26th, 2020, 3:00 PM First Congregational Church 216 E Gurley St, Prescott, AZ 86301

With environmental problems worsening all over the world, the writers of this program wonder, “What if we fell in love with the Earth?” If we fell in love, would we treat this beautiful Earth with tenderness and heal the problems as we heal our own hearts? Come to the First Congregational Church in Prescott on Sunday, April 26th at 3:00 PM and prepare to fall in love. May the beauty of this performance inspire us to reach out in practical ways to heal the Earth. Songs of the Earth was premiered in 2009 at the Tumacacori National Historic Park in Tumacacori, AZ. It was performed in 2014 by an Interfaith choir at the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City and featured at the Parliament of World Religions in 2015 by a choir of 150 singers representing over 20 faith traditions from around the country. Lyricist Patty Willis is the minister at Granite Peak Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Prescott. She served a UU congregation in Salt Lake City for six years and was active in Interfaith work and social activism. She is the author of a novel in Japanese that is recommended by the National Library Association of Japan. She is the author and actress of Man from Magdalena, a play that has funded over $160,000 in micro loans to entrepreneurs in Mexico and Central America. Composer Mary Lou Prince studied music composition from the celebrated pedagogue Nadia Boulanger in Paris. She has received commissions to write new music for Geisha musicians in Japan, theater, film and a TV documentary that was shortlisted for an Emmy Award. For the past ten years she has focused on writing choral music and has composed over 50 choral anthems. She now lives in Prescott and is the music director at Granite Peak Unitarian Universalist Congregation.
